Each food has its own composition and therefore provides a certain amount to be administered to satisfy the daily ration. On each pack, both dry and wet, nutritional tables are printed (usually on the back of the pack or on the side) which indicate the quantities in grams to be given to the dog or cat. These quantities are always indicative and may vary depending on the age, physical activity of the dog / cat, its metabolism and its physical state and general health.

Generally speaking, a dog / cat is considered a puppy up to about 12 months of age, therefore it is recommended to use the product for animals growing up to this age. It should be borne in mind, however, that in general medium-large dogs show a later completion of growth, between 12 and 18 months, while small dogs even before 12 months. In cats, the rule can apply equally, even if there is not such a large difference in size between the various bree

The advantage of using croquettes is to stimulate chewing and promote mechanical cleaning of the tooth. For this reason, croquettes that are too small should not be chosen. For Marpet products we recommend the mini croquettes for dogs up to 5-8 kg in weight, while for dogs weighing 8-10 kg up to over 40 the Medium-Large croquettes.

The 354/2020 legislation indicates the obligation to write precise instructions for use on the label. In the case of products for food intolerances we recommend a minimum use of 3 to 8 weeks to see a result on the clinical situation of the dog and then to use it up to a maximum of one year. After the year it is advisable to seek the advice of the veterinarian: in the event that the dog still obtains good results after one year, there is no reason to change and the same veterinarian consulted will logically recommend continuing to use it. Use beyond one year does not harm the dog / cat.

Given that all Marpet products do not contain preservatives, it is advisable for wet food to keep the open package in the refrigerator and consume the product within 24 hours, while for croquettes the product must be stored in a cool and dry place. , possibly closed so that it is not in contact with the air too much and should be consumed within two or three months.

The choice of a vegetable snack is also ideal to meet the needs of dogs / cats who have problems with food intolerances. Being devoid of animal proteins, it is the right choice in order not to affect the diet undertaken. Furthermore, since vegetable snacks have a fairly hard consistency, chewing them also allows a mechanical cleaning action of the tooth, thus promoting better oral hygiene, without adding additional calories.

The quantity of our Vegetal V.E.G. it is one per day and of a size suitable for the dog's teeth. In the case of snacks from other brands it is always better to consult the nutritional tables and the manufacturer's instructions. If you use snacks from other brands, remember to adjust the amount of kibble or moist in the case of using the snack in order not to provide an excessive caloric intake.

No, snacks are considered complementary foods, i.e. foods that do not provide all the nutrients necessary for the sustenance of the dog / cat. They should be used as an extra to a complete and balanced diet and should not be abused as they provide a certain caloric intake which, if neglected, can lead to overweight phenomena.

The use of the scale is certainly important, but it does not actually give a complete view of the dog's weight and shape. A simple and easy rule to apply even in the absence of the scale is the following: looking at the dog's back from above, the width of the chest must be greater than the width of the hips to say that the dog is of normal weight. If the two widths are the same or even the hips are wider than the chest, we are faced with overweight / obesity.

To choose a food for your pet, you must first understand the age of the dog in order to choose a food for growing or adult dogs / cats. Furthermore, it is also important to consider the breed / size that can predispose to certain pathologies (such as joint problems, food intolerances, delicate digestion, etc ...) so as to choose the formulation that best suits your needs. It is usually best to ask your local veterinarian or local veterinarian for advice. Marpet makes its veterinarian available to recommend the most suitable food.

The general rule requires a gradual transition from the old to the new diet (about 2-3 days), but sometimes it is not possible as the dog / cat shows symptoms related to what he eats. In this case, it is also possible to proceed to a clearer passage with the new food in order to resolve the disorders related to nutrition as soon as possible.

A veterinary diet is a food specifically designed for a specific pathology and has compositions, indications and methods of use that are governed by legislation 354/2020 (ex 38/2008). These foods have curative / support purposes to the main pathologies of pets (and not only).

The mono-protein diet offers mainly 2 advantages: the first is the owner's knowledge of the type of food that is given to his dog / cat. Very often some labels are not clear and on the front they praise fine meats, but looking at the composition on the back it turns out that that type of meat has a value of only 4% and of the remainder there is no information. This does not happen with a single protein product.

The second very important reason is the ability to better manage the increasingly growing food intolerances in our pets. Knowing what type of meat our four-legged friend ate and having other protein sources available unique to the product allows us to more easily find the diet that best suits his needs.

Although, as is well known, dogs and cats are animals that see carnivores in their ancestors, in certain situations resorting to a vegetable diet can be of real help for them. In particular when other foods, containing meat or animal derivatives, can trigger disorders of various kinds, skin rather than intestinal, but also where specific diets and use of hydrolysates have not brought results, the use of a vegetable diet, even if only for a certain period of time, it has proved to be very effective in many cases.

Processed proteins are the mandatory wording by law to indicate dehydrated meat. Once the legislation allowed the use of the wording dehydrated meat, since 2017 the catalog of raw materials (EU REG. 1017 of 2017) which regulates how the ingredients must be written on the tag, obliges to declare this ingredient on the label as processed proteins indicating the species of origin (e.g. processed duck proteins).

In the last year we have been trying to modify all our packaging using monomaterial film, so as to be able to dispose of them in the plastic fraction and be able to recycle them properly for greater environmental sustainability. In the new bags, as per current legislation, we write the material it is made of and where it should be disposed of. We always recommend that you consult the provisions of your municipality, as they may vary in the various cities.

Marpet products do not contain dyes or additives that uniform the color of the kibble. The variability in the color of the latter is attributable to the raw materials used (fresh meat, cereals, flax seeds) which may be subject to natural variability which involves a different reaction of the kibble at the time of extrusion. This variability can be reflected in its greasing leading to inevitable color differences. These differences could be leveled out with the use of dyes or additives, but it is not Marpet's policy to use them.

These small variations do not affect the nutritional and qualitative profile of the product, but instead ensure its genuineness.

No animal is born squeamish, but he was allowed to choose and express his preference, perhaps because he had the opportunity to access foods that were not suitable for his dog / cat needs (e.g. table food, leftovers, cured meats, etc...). I recommend to act upstream of the problem, using products dedicated to them, not becoming "oppressed" by the constant requests for diet changes and every now and then if necessary making it clear that there are no alternatives to what is proposed in the bowl.

Marpet undertakes not to test its products in a bloody way on animals. Our foods are formulated according to current regulations and Fediaf guidelines and the palatability tests are conducted with owned dogs and without causing any discomfort to those who participate.
